The blank page--no matter the grade, writing can be an intimidating task. Yet we ask students to come up with stories given a blank page or even a prompt of our choosing. These Lego Story Starter kits will enable my students to engage in "building" a story. The idea that writing can be a hands-on experience for a six year old is brilliant. While technology may be the future, reading and writing remain our foundation. My students always hear me say that the more we read, the better we write, and the more we write, the better reader we become. These kits come with enough pieces for my four center rotations and enough variety for a year of creative writing.
