My students are 8th graders from a rural school system. Our school is located in the county seat and serves students from the town and surrounding countryside. Our school system is comprised of mostly Title I schools; however, our high schools are not Title I. My students are mostly white and African-American, many of whom are from low-income families. They struggle to engage with school and traditional learning.
