We are a high school robotics team in a low-income (Title I) district in Connecticut participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition Program. Our students spend 20+ hours a week designing, building, and programming robots with help from teachers and engineers. They also fundraise, do community service and outreach, and promote the team through social media, and volunteering. Our students are remarkable for their dedication to the team and love of the program, as well as their camaraderie. Students spend hours a day building robots and working on team projects while maintaining high academic standards. Many of them also balance their robotics commitments with other passions. With the help of the hands-on learning opportunities offered by their robotics experience, our students go on to careers in science, technology, education, medicine, the arts, the military, and trades such as welding and machining.
