As kindergarteners, sitting in a standard chair is very hard for them. They try rocking back in the chairs which often tip over causing the child to fall. They also flip the chairs over and try to stand on the chairs. The love to sit on the floor but have problems maintaining personal space. We are supposed to do beginning and ending of the day group meetings, but this is hard when students don't know how to find personal space. They also need to be able to see the smart board which is often easier if they can find floor space directly in front of the board instead of tables that have to be so spread out in the room. If they had a choice of seating, it could help keep them safe. We need a new classroom carpet and some floor seats. This will allow my students to stay focused in order to complete work because they will be comfortable.
