Small children learn through play! Having a sensory tub in our classroom would help my kindergarten students develop social, language, academic, and fine motor skills. As they play, they will talk to their teachers and peers about what they see. The ELL students and speech students would especially benefit from that. Playing will also help them develop the fine motor muscles needed to write. Items in the tub would reinforce letters, numbers, vocabulary, and sight words taught in class. This tub would also be a great place for my students (especially those with autism) to calm down when over stimulated.
