My students write more and better when they have access to technology like Chromebooks. Many of my students have disabilities that make writing by hand difficult and time-consuming, but the speech-to-text extensions on Chrome make writing easy and fluid. Google Classroom has changed the way my students and I think about writing as individuals, as teams, and even as a whole class! In my writing workshop, students also have access to my YouTube channel of instructional videos (http://bit.ly/bullocksrules), and other resources online, so that they do not have to suffer through whole-group writing instruction and can just *write*. But without the technology for *all* of my students to take advantage of a flipped classroom and other resources like speech-to-text, some students are still slipping through the cracks.
