Their hearts are in it, but the budget is not. Our beautiful and amazing students have asked me every single day, "when will we cook?!" I see their enthusiasm bright in their eyes but I have to always respond with, "I'm so sorry guys, we still don't have cooking supplies". If I could give them the world, I would do it. And everything purchased so far has come directly out of my pocket. But I am limited and need your help! I have an outdated kitchen but it is equipped with stoves and sinks and a fridge. Just their awareness of these appliances indicates that I should be out panhandling for their pots and pans TODAY! The donations for this project will help expand their career and college readiness for programs for CTE and beyond. As we have some of the lowest literacy rates in the country, I have specifically taken responsibility to build up all career skills that they have any interest in. I realize they need on the job skills and the perfection of home economics and kitchen safety. These five kitchen sets are not just pots and pans. They are an opportunity to change their lives and possibly the course of history.
