Kindergarten students benefit from exploring the world by getting their hands into and onto things. It brings understanding to their fingertips and into their mindset. The foam letters, board games, and storybooks all encourage the students to actively engage in the learning process. We are more than worksheets and workbooks. We have to create a community where the students learn to work together and make connections with one another. The games create that atmosphere while embedding academic lessons. The storybooks offer perspective to help the little ones expand their lens of the world. I would utilize these items on a daily basis in my whole group carpet-time lessons, small group instruction, and in station activities. Learning is through play for this young kindergarten age group as it is fun to learn!
