Allowing my students the opportunity to participate in a jazz program will not only benefit them as musicians but also as students. This program will give them the opportunity to learn about the history and culture that surrounds jazz music while immersing themselves in the performance. I plan to also take my students to jazz festivals so that they may watch other high school groups perform and gain experience from those performances. For students who wish to further pursue music at a collegiate level, this program will allow diversity in their repertoire that will look very attractive to music departments when selecting scholarship recipients.

About my class
