Students at Von Steuben are eager for authentic and enriching engineering, technology, and applied arts experiences in the classroom. They have a strong sense of community and a desire to learn how to help make the world a better place. We believe that this can be done through providing opportunities for ALL students to use our makerspace to learn and apply engineering skills to solve real problems. Our student population come from some of the most diverse backgrounds and ethnicities in the city of Chicago. More than 80% of our student population identifies as a person of color and more than 65% of our students come from families designated as low-income.
