My school is a Title I school. We do not have the means or resources for 1:1 technology in each classroom, and while this project will not get us to 1:1 yet, it gets us much closer allowing us five Google Chromebooks in the classroom. I teach Government, and as such we are reliant upon current information on key issues like Trump's travel ban or how local officials are addressing homelessness in the area. Our textbooks, that are 17 years old, leave a lot to be desired. I do a lot of group activities and with some students with smart phones we can cover the gap, but without these five Chromebooks I am not sure how ready they will be to present their case for their Civic Action Project before the City Council, or the School Board, or Congress for that matter. These Chromebooks can help with other projects as well like the essay contest mentioned above.
