The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting sudden move to Distance Learning has presented seemingly unsurmountable challenges, even for the most tech-savvy of teachers. I consider myself a "power user" and push my school-issued laptop to its limit during my virtual lessons - it huffs and puffs to run a Google Meet, learning activity, Google Classroom, Gmail, and a YouTube video on my dual-monitor setup! Many students comment that my audio and video begin to lag while my poor laptop struggles to keep up. The Razer Blade 15 gaming laptop that I have selected will help me push past these technological limits and provide rigorous instruction in my ELA classroom while not worrying that my computer will fry itself or lag out. Besides helping me provide improved virtual instruction, this Razer Blade 15 gaming laptop will open doors for our Title 1 students' virtual extracurricular activities. I am one of the faculty advisors for the Anime, Manga, and Gaming Society at our Title 1 school, and it is our largest student organization with over 70 active members. Many of our students don't have the money to watch the anime (Japanese animation) or play the video games they love, and they join our club to partake in the resources that our club provides. With this laptop, I will stream both anime and video game tournaments to students at home, allowing them to engage in otherwise-lost social experiences! Additionally, it will help me bring one of my dreams for the club to fruition - an artwork and short story anthology produced by students! The Razer Blade 15 will provide me with the necessary power to help students edit and publish artwork, giving them opportunities that they otherwise might never have!
