In the 21st century, music education has branched out into new territories. There are now comprehensive applications that can help students learn how to read, play and compose music in a variety of ways. It is now even possible for me to record myself demonstrating musical activities that the students can watch and model in small groups. In order to better facilitate our music classroom, I am requesting five Kindle Fire Tablets. I can say, from experience, that tablets have changed my students' perception about what they are capable of learning in the music classroom. When learning about reading the notes of the staff, they played differently themed tablet exercises, like Staff Wars and Flashnote Derby. When learning about the piano, they used Simply Music to help them play the notes. When learning a new dance, they were able to watch a demonstration of it, that I had recorded beforehand, and learn the dance at their own pace. Tablets have revolutionized the way we learn in class, and by using the five additional Kindle Fire tablets, as well as a safe charging station to place them in afterwards, I can provide an even more comprehensive music program.
