I have been inspired by a project developed by researchers at Tufts University called "Novel Engineering." I am excited to develop integrated literacy units to help my students connect with the characters we encounter in our books. As they engage with their characters, holding their Playmobil characters in their hands, they will put themselves in their characters shoes, taking on their problems. They will then work together to design and build solutions using their Legos and other materials to help their characters solve their problems. I can't wait to see their imaginations take flight and their reading comprehension to soar!
