I often speak to my students about the importance of treating others the way you want to be treated. In the art classroom students aren't just learning the elements of art and honing their artistic abilities, they are learning the importance of patience, teamwork, and diversity. I want to give my students the opportunity to illustrate these values by participating in the "Kindness Rocks" movement. Each student will paint a rock with what it means to them to "Be PAWsome". We're going to use the finished rocks to build our very own rock garden outside. I intend to add to this garden each year by having the incoming first graders paint their own rocks. I hope that this will be a project that students will look back on fondly as the project where they were able to leave their mark on the school.
