Hands- on learning allows my students to be involved in their learning which allows them to be in control of their financial future. We will be studying many different animals/insects and their habitats this year. Student learn to work with their classmates, teamwork is strongly encouraged. The hands on science kit will allow students to explore and examine science specimens. They will investigate items from stag beetles to a replica of an iguana skull. All the kits included a color photo of an animal with all of the facts about the animal. One of the wonderful things about this science kit, it covers many of the different units we cover throughout the year in first grade. Hands- on learning allows my students to be involved in their learning. For example we are studying owl, we will investigate owls pellets to discover what bones we can find. We will then match the bones to a chart to learn what kinds of animals owls eat (food chain). We also study plants, how and why they are so important to the animal and people. We will plant seeds and learn what kind of care we must provide to the seed to help it grow into a health plant.
