Beacon High School has some of the best students in NYC! One of the incredible blessings to our community is our film department, BeaconFilm! Each semester, Beacon has over 160 film students who will incredible work in a variety of styles and topics. Our film lab, room 425, has provided an incredible home to Beacon film students but is in need of technology updates. Since 2001, Beacon’s students have been making incredible films which have been featured in international film festivals and student film festivals across the country. Beacon consistently sends graduating seniors to top film schools such as NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, CalArts, USC, SUNY Purchase, Columbia, Syracuse, UVM, and FSU. Recently, Beacon’s film department has been improved and expanded by the addition of Documentary Film classes. With this expanded option, students can take film classes each year at Beacon, from 9th through 12th grade.
