With these new books my students will be able to listen and read amazing stories about amazing individuals who look like them, physically. I have been searching for books featuring African American individuals but it is difficult to do on a teachers budget. I need these donations to provide my students the ability to say “Wow! They look like me!”. I have noticed that when students are listening/reading stories about people who don’t necessarily look like them, engagement goes down. I want my student to feels as if they can do anything. My students also tend to come from rough home where they don’t have access to books, much less books and people who look like them. I want to change that. Can you help me?
