My classroom consists of 7th and 8th grade students being instructed in English/Language Arts. Engaged instruction in reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary happens on a daily basis. My students come from a low socio-economic status area of the city of Phoenix, where over 98% of the kids are on free or reduced lunch. My school is the definition of a Title 1 school. Friends and family sometimes wonder why I spend so much time setting up my room in the summer and spending time there on weekends and the answer is simple: in a world full of emotional stress, I want Room 705 to be comfortable, welcoming environment for the 120+ students who are greeted with a high-five or hug when they enter the door.
