A Sensory Room is a specially designed room which combines a range of stimuli to help students develop and engage their senses. These can include lights, colors, sounds, sensory tactile objects, aromas, and movement all within a safe environment that allows the student using it to explore and interact without risk. This, in turn, helps regulate the body to improve the ability to focus, organize, and promote a sense of calm. The stepping stones not only enhance visual but tactile as well while the lights, smells, and bubble tube work on the vision, olfactory, and auditory senses for a sense of peace. The water beads, moon sand, and marble strips allow for tactile, visual, and movement to help regulate. The swing allows for vestibular input and movement while in a comfortable postural position. The items will benefit all students in being successful in the educational setting.
