Our students experience a high amount of trauma in their daily lives. We are located in an area with a poor socio-economic community where the crime, gang violence and drug rate is high. These materials will help provide our students with items that will give them ways to work away their nervous energy and provide them with techniques to help pacify them in order to focus in class and not cause classroom disruptions. By donating to this project, items will be utilized school wide by providing each classroom with a calm down kit that fits the needs of the students in the classroom. The items along with calming strategies that will be taught throughout the year during classroom guidance lessons will help students regulate themselves in order for their learning to take place.
