Fourth grade students at our school will experience the field trip of a lifetime as they hit the road to Texas history. Their journey will take them to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, Texas. There, they will experience the development of Texas history coming to life through the numerous exhibits and interactive displays that span from the Native Americans to Space Exploration! The hands on experience and exploration of Texas history will deepen their knowledge of 4th grade social studies curriculum. It will also provide our diverse population of students the opportunity to build schema through a unique experience that incorporates all learning styles. This event will create a "buzz" in the community as another learning opportunity that Alief ISD has to learn outside the classroom. This one of a kind excursion helps close the achievement gap to ensure that all students reach their academic potential. By providing real world opportunities to deepen students’ knowledge of Texas history, our 4th graders will gain experiences comparable to their non-Title I counterparts that will help build their background knowledge.
