I teach in an inner-city high school comprised of students from an underserved and diverse community. Though our facilities and resources are extremely limited, my goal is to provide these children an opportunity to play baseball at a level comparative to their suburban counterparts. We currently do not have a home field safe enough to play games on, or even practice. Despite being materially disadvantaged, my students are eager to participate in the game and work hard to enhance their baseball skills. They are gifted and talented, but do not have the resources necessary to reach their full athletic potential. I would love to provide these children every opportunity to become successful.
