Our library recently began hosting a MakerSpace Club. In this club students participate in creating art and STEAM projects that support critical thinking skills. As students work on STEAM projects they must utilize their problem solving skills and approach situations in novel ways. This promotes critical thinking and also encourages students to work with one another. We are requesting Harry Potter themed Legos in order to help our students explore new ways of exploring new ways to solve problems that arise when attempting to create projects. When working on a STEAM project in a cooperative learning situation, students are often able to develop new perspectives and envision solutions that they may not have considered earlier. As our students prepare to enter the global workforce they will need to rely upon their critical thinking skills and participation in motivating STEAM projects is a wonderful way to develop these necessary skills.
