The materials that I'm requesting will provide students an opportunity to improve communication when working in pairs and groups. Much of our math class time is spent applying our knowledge and practicing new skills. Flexible seating will allow students to easily partner up and communicate with their group. This will also help support the math practice standards of making sense of problems and persevering to solve them and constructing viable arguments and critiquing the reasoning of others. Students will have ownership in the classroom. Flexible seating will take the room from "my room" to "our room." Wobble seats and cushions provide students an opportunity for much-needed movement without causing classroom distractions.
