This year, we have persevered to keep learning, creating art, and sharing ideas while remote. My students have made the best of what materials they have at home, including highlighters, coffee, and cardboard, and have come up with creative ways to use those supplies to create art. The availability of colorful, quality art materials is crucial to learning about and creating art. Color makes up such a large majority of the visual world and lacking supplies to create this in your artwork can really discourage a child before they even start creating. My goal to to provide every child with their own basic set of coloring materials both at home remotely and in school. With these materials, all my students can learn about using colors to create art including color mixing, color harmonies, and using color to express feeling and big ideas.
