Preschoolers learn best through hands on experiences. In our classroom, I aim to provide as many tools and activities as I can think of to practice cooperative play skills. My students LOVE to build, and they’re intrigued by magnets. Building with blocks offers the opportunity for children to create, share, take turns and problem solve. The opportunities to express their individual creativity are endless. I recently introduced a small set of magnetic tiles to the class and they were a HUGE hit! My students thought of so many ways to use them, in the black area, car center and light table. They built sky scrapers, icebergs, a car garage, superhero caves....and the list goes on. I would love to add more variations of tiles to the class to support and “build” on these exciting play opportunities!!
