Teaching in a 1:1 blended learning environment is unlike anything I have ever experienced in my 16 years of teaching. I have never worked harder in my teaching career, both in and out of the classroom. Many feel that teaching in a blended environment is easy, however after spending 10 minutes in my class every single visitor has a brand new perspective. Although there are a lot of resources online that my kids access for instruction and practice, the largest impact on learning comes when I create lessons for my students. There is something that happens in a student when they hear the familiarity of their teacher's voice...they open their minds and accept the lesson. It is something that I have recently realized, which has pushed me to create every single instructional lessons my kids use for each standard I teach. I currently use a gen2 iPad and free screen recording software to create my lessons, but most days, there is a technical issue I encounter. I want to allow students to create lessons as well, which is something I am unable to do with my set up. With this project, I will be able to use this Chromebook/tablet to record lessons with ease. Everything is integrated! I will also be able to have the students who need a challenge create their own videos to post to our class. With the Chromebook/tablet and the Chromecast, students will be able to interact with the whiteboard during whole class or small group activities. I will also be able to use the tablet when working one-on-one with students. I can open a whiteboard app, work through problems with the student(s) then email them a copy of the work!
