My goal is to help students become strong, passionate readers. In order to build my students' background knowledge, vocabulary, metacognitive and comprehension strategies, they will need fiction and non fiction high-interest texts at a variety of levels! Currently, our classroom library is lacking in books, and sometimes we have to print and use paper books from the internet. Please help me to build an enticing classroom library that builds excitement and fuels students' passion for reading. For the 2019-2020 school year, my mornings will be devoted to helping first grade ESL struggling readers work towards meeting grade level expectations. My objective is to help struggling readers move from Level A texts to Level I or J within twelve to twenty weeks of direct instruction. It will be hard work, but enticing, new texts will be one of the tools to help my students to succeed!
