Our students are based in a self-contained special education classroom in South Louisiana. The students in our classroom range from moderate to severe disabilities, and the majority of them are nonverbal. They enjoy working on hands-on activities, and we frequently use art as a way to allow them to have greater participation in the general education classroom with their peers. We also take frequent breaks throughout lessons to provide the sensory stimulation that they require to focus and learn.
