These materials will give my students a variety of different texts to choose form, resources to use, and strategies for them to apply when decoding text. These texts are interesting, leveled, and incorporate exposure to global science and social studies concepts. The teacher intervention books also have passages at all different levels. I believe that having a variety of types of text to choose from at the students' level will give them motivation and confidence to read more! Students who are a couple grade levels behind, will be able to feel confident reading hi-lo passages which have an appearance of grade-level text/structure. These high-interest text sets and passages will help to engage students who struggle with reading.
