One of the biggest challenges teachers face is accommodating varying levels of ability in a special education classroom. For example, many of my classes my students are in have physical handicaps, some have mental, and some have both. I have various levels in my classroom from Pre-k k- to 8th grade in one special ed. class. Some students can't move from their desks, while others are unable to communicate verbally. Many of my students require one-on-one attention and it is difficult for many of them to work with textbooks, paper, and writing utensils. The use of the iPad in the classroom would help my students overcome many issues that are not foreseen by same age peers. The philosophy in my classroom is to have the highest expectations for all students, in an area where expectations are often overlooked due to the students physical or mental handicap. Thank you for taking the time to read my project.
