Our classroom library needs more books about extreme weather to successfully support an upcoming Reading Workshop unit of study. In this unit, students are expected to read across texts in order to compare and contrast how different books present information on the same topic. This collection of nonfiction books will allow my fourth graders to successfully participate in the inquiry and synthesis work required of them in this unit. By having more books available in our classroom, students will have a variety of texts to choose from when making cross-text analyses. It will also help them grow text-based ideas as critical readers.
