I am looking to get the resources necessary to be the best counselor I can for the under served students in Bridgeport, CT. My students will need me to have these resources so that I can directly service them in classes, small groups and individually. Based on student needs, I will use the books and activities to do whole class lessons on social skills, conflict resolution and managing feelings. The games like Uno Attack, Word Play, Monopoly Junior, Battleship and Scrabble Junior will be used in individual and small group counseling to increase student participation. Because of major financial constraints, I do not have all the tools I need to be successful in reaching all my students. These kids deserve to have access to the same things as suburban students have, including a well supported school counseling curriculum. In order to deliver the best possible program I need books like Guidance with Good Measure which will guide the full program. Also books like Behavioral Interventions in Schools, Effective School Interventions, Group Interventions in Schools and Amaze and Engage Middle School Students are important for me to be able to help all my students in the way that I have materials and games on my list so that I can better support the 400+ students I reach in my school. Tools such as thumb balls, Games and Activities for Exploring Feeling with Children and Questions in a Jar help to facilitate different skills and activities in classroom lessons, small groups and individual sessions. Because I have so many students to reach I have limited time for each session and therefore I need these tools to help get the session going. Thanks in advance for your generosity!
