My students are juniors and seniors in a small high school in Manitou Springs, Colorado. They come from all different backgrounds: some live in mansions and others live in monthly hotels on Manitou Avenue. Our community is supportive of our efforts to keep alive the spirit of the arts, be innovative, and do what is best for kids; however, because we are a small school district, funding cuts have hit us especially hard. We have had to "trim the fat"...and more "trimming is on the way." In essence, we have no available funds for initiatives that benefit students.
