I am requesting materials to help make my second grade classroom a comfortable, safe, appealing, and flexible environment! I truly believe that children learn best when they are able to make choices in their learning. Flexible seating in classroom allows the environment to be student-centered. Flexible classrooms allow more opportunity for students to collaborate, problem solve, communicate, think critically, be responsible, and hold themselves accountable. It fosters independence, increased motivation and engagement, and creativity. All of this then leads to greater student growth. The exercise balls and wobble chairs that I have requested will provide my students with more seating options and more choice in their learning. The cubby system will be a place where students can store their everyday belongings, rather than a typical desk.
