My students are hearing a high quality text daily through our morning read-aloud. Our county has adopted the Core Knowledge program which is exposing our students to rich content on a daily basis. This program focuses on strengthening their listening comprehension skills, vocabulary, and their analytical thinking skills. My students are in 2nd grade, and they still need to practice reading texts independently to strengthen their reading comprehension skills. Two of the eleven domains we study are Ancient Greek Civilizations and Fairy Tales and Tall Tales. We need class sets of books for our students to practice reading independently during both of those domains.
