I teach at an amazing school inner-city school in Northern California. My students, though almost 90% of them receive free lunch, are outstanding and motivated. Our school recently won awards for our improvement of student learning. The kids work hard and I'm confident that we're having success building a college-going culture. But it's not enough. Most of my students are still not achieving at the appropriate grade level. I believe that more time spent each day reading and receiving instruction will help to ensure even more success! We need to catch them up to their grade level so that we can begin to accelerate them even further.
