Our high school is a Title 1 school which means that our students don't have the same financial backing, resources or access to technology as other high schools students in our district and within the state. Our community is made up of middle to lower class socio-economic groups in a fairly concentrated area. Our students and their families take pride in our community and there's a hardworking mentality which can be felt at the school level as well. The students on the whole are modest and respectful and mostly importantly eager to learn more. We have a cross-section of ethnic backgrounds and cultures represented within our community and school. The students in my classes are all here by choice as my classes are electives, and that makes it feel like a college atmosphere where students are intent on learning more about these subjects that they've chosen. It also is great for productivity and attitude because my students are genuinely interested in the content.
