My students are always moving and full of energy! They are often uncomfortable in the chairs that are available at our school. Most of my kids cannot sit comfortably in their seats that we currently have in our room. I stand most of the day and there is no way that I, myself, could sit in the chairs that we have for more than 10-15 minutes without wanting to move! My students need more options when it comes to seating and they need to be comfortable too. The seating options that I hope to provide, with your help, are exercise balls with feet, donut seats, stools, wiggle discs, and a bean bag chair too. Studies show that students learn better when they are comfortable and able to move when they need to move. All of these options will give my students the opportunity to choose their seats, sit comfortably, and move around without disturbing others while they are learning. These seating options will increase my students’ ability stay on task and be fully engaged in our learning throughout the school day. I always want my kids to feel comfortable in our room and this is one way that will help me do so. I cannot wait to see the huge difference in their attention spans and all of the things we can do and learn with flexible seating!
