Welcome! Thank you for visiting my DonorsChoose page! :) My students are like every other student, EXCEPT that they have a hearing loss. The noisy classroom environment and poor acoustics make learning more difficult for them. They use hearing aids or cochlear implants together with school supplied Hearing Assistive Technology (HAT) units to bring the teacher's voice directly into their ears. My students rely on both visual aids and support services to better comprehend their daily lessons. As a Hearing Teacher, I support their classroom instruction through speechreading, auditory training and self-advocacy. It is so important for my students to know that they matter. They understand how incredible it is that people choose to donate to benefit THEM!
