My students are the sweetest group of 6th graders, and they come from all around NYC. Not yet too-cool-for-school adolescents, they are energetic and eager learners. I remember reading an article once about a tribe of Indians whose songs were all about water. When asked by the journalist why, the chieftain replied, "Because we have so little." The students I teach would write their songs about money and big houses.
