My students love learning real life skills and using technology in the classroom, however, many of them have difficulty with handwriting or working with traditional pen and paper. Most students are non-verbal and use communication devices to communicate their wants and needs. This project will support these students with special needs by giving them access to personal typing skills that can be used in ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science and more. If they can type it, they can express it! Students will be able to attach iPads to these keyboards and gain a skill they can transfer to home, vocation, or anywhere in the future. With word documents and text-to-speech applications, you will give these students a voice to be heard. Think about the life long skill these students will have, being able to access the internet, type out an application, or even navigate Google. These eager young ones will thank you!
