Our high school has an active makerspace that provides students the opportunity to create and explore both inside and outside of the classroom curriculum. Among other things, they learn that the process is often as important as the outcome, and that success can be defined in many ways. Due to COVID-19, our students will begin the year virtually, and will not have access to our makerspace at school. Now more than ever, our students need materials and tools at home to be able to tinker and explore in a creative manner. This benefits them on an educational level, but also on a social-emotional level. Many of our students do not have access to makerspace materials at home, so we plan to provide them with make and take makerspace kits that they will use at home to craft, design, and create.
