As a new teacher, I am working on building an environment that is welcoming, fun, and designed to meet the needs of my new scholars. Kindergarten students require hands-on materials to help them interact with their education in meaningful ways. They need manipulatives to help them build their math and fine motor skills. They need interactive letters and books in their hands to help them become successful readers. These materials will help provide a better understanding of academic concepts while making learning more fun!
All students deserve to learn in an environment that is inclusive to them as a learner and as a person. This means that every culture has representation in my classroom, especially the cultures of the students in the room. One way to do this is by creating a class library that has a wide variety of representations so that all students know they belong in my classroom. This includes, but is not limited to, books that show different races, religions, and cultures. I also want a class library that caters to the wide variety of interests my students have to encourage a love of reading!
I am so excited to start my first year teaching as a kindergarten teacher and to watch my students grow as learners and as individuals! Thank you so much for all of your support!
