My school is an urban community school. Many students are behind at least two grades and need to graduate before they age out of the NYC educational system. Many students are below the poverty line and many have had gaps in their formal education due to recent immigration or needing to work to provide for their families. my students also have severe cognitive learning/reading disabilities that prevent them from being in a regular education classroom.
