I want to provide my students with an environment in which they are engaged and having fun. I believe a great way to do this would be by allowing the use of flexible seating in my classroom. "Creative people are curious, flexible, persistent, and independent with a tremendous spirit of adventure and a love of play." Brain research shows that movement enhances the learning process. There is a neurological pathway that goes from your body's movement system to your alert system in your brain. Movement actually allows for alertness and attention. Therefore, as the teacher of 20 creative, determined, and smart children, I feel it is my responsibility to create an environment for all individual students to be successful. Therefore, I hope to provide choices of seating for my students. They will have the choice between stools, reading seats, and seat cushions. I will be placing the bouncy bands on desks to help those that may need a type of fidget to perform better in class. Lastly, I will place the light filters over the fluorescent lighting to provide a more calm relaxing classroom setting.
