As a first year teacher, I have started building my classroom library out of donated books, most of which are used. My students love to read! However, they are much more interested in what is "new" and "exciting," which is often the most popular fiction and graphic novels. New non-fiction books will help get my students interested in something different, learning new facts! As we continue to learn about history and science in the classroom, the curiosity will be sparked in my students. Having these new books will help to kindle that spark of curiosity and learning in my students.
