Many of the students in my district struggle with reading and writing on state standardized test. Kindergarten is where those foundations are built and the love for learning begins. Writing allows students the opportunity to express themselves and provides an emotional outlet for others. Providing each student with a writers notebook that they can call their own will encourage them to use writing as a form of expression. Each notebook will display various stages of the writing process from drawing, to labeling, to sentence writing. By the end of the school year, my students will be able to see their growth and maturity and have a keepsake to take with them to remember where their love for learning began.
