Having a safe and comfortable learning environment is essential in helping students foster a positive community of learning! A huge piece of our community building is centered around time spent together on the rug. Whether it is our welcome circle where students share in excitement to see each other and share news about their day or a restorative circle to remind friends about what it means to be a member of our community. Our carpet is where these wonderful PreK minds make some thought-provoking discoveries! A student could see themselves through the eyes of a character from one of our stories or we could be completing a new scientific experiment. Any and all of the situations that take place on our rugs are memories for my students. These memories are what make them who they are: funny, caring, intelligent, strong, and loving individuals!
